Bert owned and operated a meat market in Blairstown, Iowa. He died of influenza in 1918. Helen worked as a clerk in the G. H. Kimm store in Blairstown for seven years and then married Frank W. Goldthwaite. They lived in Marengo where he was employed at the First National Bank.
