Charles Davis Zahrt was a resident of Clay Co Ia for 55 years and resided on a farm north of Rossie Ia for 27 years. His last 23 years were spent as a resident of Spencer, Ia. He was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church and in an early day he was a Sunday School teacher. He had a total of 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. At one time they had a fire in their house. They lost all of their household goods and only had a small amount of insurance. They were renting the house at the time. They also lost a little boy aged about 2 months at their home near Atkins, Ia in 1897.

Mary Salome Zahrt attended the rural schools near Norway, Ia and the Tilford Academy at Vinton, Ia. She married Charles Zahrt of Marengo and they spent the first five years of married life on a farm near Atkins, Ia. In 1900 they came to Clay Co. Ia moving to a farm near Rossie where they lived until they moved to Spencer. Their wedding announcement in the paper read: "He is to be congratuated for winning such a bright and handsome lady who possesses more than ordinary accomplishments. Both bride and groom were beautifully attired and made a fine impression."

Fred Zahrt was born two miles north of Rossie, Iowa in Clay County, Iowa. He was a resident of Clay County all of his life. He attended country school and the Rossie School. His early youth was spent in farming with his parents. He was a mechanic for 30 years. At one time, the newspaper reported that Fred "narrowly escaped more serious injury when he lost part of his right thumb while assisting in the repair of a windmill on a farm near Royal, Iowa." "His thumb was cut off at the first joint." "He was rushed to a physician for medical treatment." It was later told that he didn't actually lose part of his thumb.

Rachel Zahrt was raised on a farm near Linn Grove, Iowa. She attended the Zion Church School and later went to school by bobsled in Rossie.

Fred Zahrt Jr⁵ was in the United States Army Air Corps from 1945-47 and became a radio instructor. He is now at Cal State University in Los Angeles as an instructor and Associate Chair and Presidents Office.

Steven William Zahrt⁶, son of Fred Zahrt Jr⁵ and Kathryn Sonius, joined the Army and was in the Special Forces Green Berets from 1970-1974. He obtained his B.S. Degree from Cal State.

Scott Zahrt Mikal⁶, son of Fred Zahrt Jr⁵ and Kathryn Sonius, was in the United States Air Force and Cal Air Guard from 1974-1982. He obtained his B.S. Degree from Metropolitan State College at Colorado in 1974 and is presently an F4 Fighter Pilot at Homestead Air Force Base.

Stanley Ashley Zahrt⁶, son of Fred Zahrt⁵ and Kathryn Sonius, joined the United States Air Force and Cal Air Guard 1975-1982. He obtained his B.S. Degree at San Diego State in 1975 and is presently an F4 Fighter Pilot at Homestead Air Force Base.

Shelly Kay Zahrt⁶, dau of Fred Zahrt Jr⁵ and Kathryn Sonius, received her B.S. Degree in Home Economics from Long State University. She is presently a graduate assistant and teaches business administration.

Beverly Jeppeson with her daughter, Zoe Ann, live on a farm near Rossie, Ia. She has continued the farm operation since her husband's death. Javotte and her husband, Allen, farm 50/50 with her. They also farm 160 acres rented land which belongs to Norma Nelson Morgan, daughter of Louisa Kimm. Beverly has taught school for 25 years. Kayleen Marie Jeppeson6 is a music teacher at Quimby, Iowa.

Gary was in the Marines for 10 years with two tours of Vietnam and two years in New Zealand where he worked at the St. John's Observatory. He monitored the Apollo flights and kept track of objects in space including debris from space shots. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat V for Valor and 23 other decorations. He was with the Air Force 14 years and has recently retired and is living at Rossie, Ia.

Frank Edington Jr⁵ went to St. Johns Military School and graduated in 1956. 1959-1961 he served in the United States Army Artillery at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. In 1963, he graduated from the University of South Dakota and now works for Land of Lakes in Spencer.

Suzanne Edington⁵ attended the NW Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis and worked at the hospital in Spencer, Iowa and St. Joseph's in Sioux City, Iowa.
